INTRODUCTION

Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art is an important activity in any country which has rich heritage. This is true in the case of India whose  history is written by Pre historic man.

Conservators and Restorers in India are facing the challenge of Conserving material from potteries to contemporary Paintings.

In response to such challenge, efforts are made since 1905, to preserve, conserve the heritage by active government support and the involvement of enlightened public by way of framing laws, setting up regulatory authorities, funding, setting up institutions to study, teach and conduct research. These efforts have lead to vast body of information accumulated and scattered in several places and yet times such useful information is not readily accessible. To overcome such problems which any scholar may face, this site is launched.

Efforts are made to get the up-to-date and exact information. However, in such ventures where one has to depend on secondary sources for required information, it is difficult to vouch the authenticity. Hence, the users are requested to use their judgment before putting the available information to use.

Scholars are also requested to contribute to the building up of this web page by means of sending feed back, latest information, and pointing out any inaccuracies. Such suggestions will be gratefully accepted and incorporated after due examination.
